Baking Cornbread: Did I Hit it or Miss it?

Hello guys!! Welcome to the very first episode of Try Tuesdays'!! ðŸŽŠðŸ’ƒðŸ» Today, I will be telling you guys about my cornbread baking experience. I baked cornbread using two different mixes; I used the Duff Goldman maple brown sugar cornbread & muffin mix and the Krusteaz honey cornbread & muffin mix. So, here's how it went:

First, What is cornbread?: "It is a type of bread made from cornmeal and typically leavened without yeast." It is mostly a Southern American dish.

I have had cornbread before in Tulsa at a restaurant called Cracker Barrel and I was obsessed. I always ordered cornbread from there and I have been missing it so, I decided to try to make it myself and It was an interesting experience.

My first attempt looked kinda terrible but tasted good (I say that lightly) ðŸ˜‚. I used the Duff Goldman mix and my batter was not thick enough so it spilled all over while it was in the oven.

Was it delicious?: UHHHH!! Guys!! I hated it sooo much. If you love sugary cornbread or sugar in general then this is for you but the reason I loved cracker barrel cornbread so much is because it's salty. I know I wanted to try something new but I hate sugar and this just tasted like sugary cake. I'll probably never buy this mix again.

So, for my second attempt I used the Krusteaz honey cornbread mix and I got the batter right this time. Yayyyyyy 💃💃 I actually added a little bit (1/4 cup) of melted butter to this batter and I used the whole mix so I think that helped a lot. It was thicker and fluffy. I used half of the maple brown sugar mix in my first attempt and that kind of threw the whole consistency off.

Was it delicious?: UHHHHHHH!! Guys!! I also hated it. I thought that it would be salty because the box didn't say it had sugar but when I tasted it, to my surprise, it was sugary as well. I was so angry guys. I baked more of it because I thought I'd love it but then it was just a little bit less sugary than the maple brown sugar mix and that was so disappointing. I won't be repurchasing these but please if you know any salty cornbread mix then please recommend them to me. I think I'd try making it from scratch later in life 😂 but for now, until I go to Cracker Barrel again, I bid cornbread adieu.
